Hey hey,

Welcome to OpenMyVideo. We think you’re here because you downloaded our iPhone and iPad app–if that’s the case, thank you.

We wanted to write you with the full list of what you get for the next 30 days–because it’s a lot more than just a mobile video app.

[BTW, we have videos that show you everything that is written below. If you're a “watcher,” stop reading here and just watch the videos below.]

Ah, you’re a “reader”? Here’s the deal. For 30 days you get…

iPhone application that allows you to send and share up to 3 minutes of video per send. Keep reading to learn some helpful tips and tricks.

Record videos directly from your computer’s web cam, or upload a video file from a PC, then send your video. Send video emails while you’re test-driving the service over the next 30 days. If you need more, call us!

• Access to the Video Library, where you can upload videos to store, send, and share.

• The Theme Creator, your tool for building a branded web page featuring your content. Use this customized space to share videos, images, links, social info, and attachments. This is your branded landing page, wrapped with your logo, backgrounds, and imagery.

• Address book–upload your contacts in a couple of clicks and easily send them video emails. Group your contacts for effective video email campaigns. (Just make sure to create the group first, then upload your contacts into the right group.)

• Two options for analytics: basic analytics built-in and Google Analytics integrated into our Theme Creator. Just add your Google Analytics ID to your theme. When you login to Google Analytics, you will see your OpenMyVideo traffic and visitors. Use analytics to track the effectiveness of your campaigns.

Get Going

Still with me? Cool! So you’ve got a little bit of setup to make our system work for YOU. Get going! If you build a theme, record a decent video, blast it out to your people, you will see results. Our video email open rates are more than 25% higher than standard text-based email messages. Get the facts.

Our blog has all the FAQs, but if you need us, just email help@openmyvideo.com. Tell us what we’re doing right–and especially tell us what we’re doing WRONG. We are in the business of helping your business. If you have suggestions or issues about OpenMyVIdeo, email kendall@openmyvideo.com. Keen-eye Kendall is a stickler for details, so tell him the type of computer you use, the browser, the file type of your video, any details that will help us troubleshoot.

A Few Final Notes

Mobile video – first off, it’s complicated. We encode (fancy word for format) for iPad, iPhone, Blackberry, Android, and all types of browsers. Our iPhone app works best when you send videos that have been previously recorded to your video/photo gallery. We offer a record “on-the-fly” option, but many different factors can affect upload. We’d rather you film with the standard camera application that comes with the iPhone and use our application to send your video. Frankly, mobile and wi-fi networks can time-out, calls can get dropped–things can be beyond our control. But if you record with the standard camera app, you will save a video locally that you can send using OMV when you’re ready!

Check it out…there are many cool tricks to learn. Forget about the trial, I want an account now!

Thanks again!

The OMV Team

Cisco Knows…it’s all about the VIDEO

As you can tell we’re talking about video, again. But we’re not the only ones…

Great article by: By Matt Hamblen

With a smile and a few handshakes for reporters, Cisco CEO John Chambers launched into a 45 minute presentation at the CES show on Wednesday describing the future of video over networks.

“Who would have thought a decade ago that Cisco would be here talking about consumer products and video?” Chambers asked with a chuckle. “It is video that changes everything.”
For two years at least Chambers has been beating the video drum, talking about how annual growth in video traffic over networks will be 200% or more.

But in recent months he has become decidedly more personal in his appeals to the value of video, noting that consumers relate to video of family and friends because of the “experience, and not the technology.”
At the Wednesday presentation, Chambers described new video in-home telepresence technology that will be trialed in the U.S. this spring, with Verizon Communications as an early partner. Cisco will provide set-top boxes and cameras, but consumers will be able to use their existing HDTVs, he noted.

In his talk, Chambers focused heavily on the intimate nature of video technology, using examples from his own family. On a screen, he showed short video clips he took with a Flip camera of his family boat excursion near Hawaii, showing whales surfacing in the ocean his wife racing down a zip line in a jungle in Costa Rica.

Email Video Marketing Campaigns

Posted: December 5th, 2009 | Author: Dawson Roark | Filed under: OMV for Business, Social Media Video | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , | 450 Comments »

Excitement is in the air this holiday season about video marketing but before you blast your entire list think about the following points.

1. What results are you expecting from the video email?

2. Is your video email branded with company logo?

3. Do you have a link to contact us, buy now, or see a demo?

4. Should you set up a video responder once they complete the action you are hoping for?

5. Does the video email software have tracking capabilities like open my video to the monitor results?

6. Always perform a test on a small group before blasting large group.

7. Spam is always a concern, make sure the video email software by passes spam filters.

8. Find out if customers can view and play  video email on iphone and other mobile devices.

9. Relax and just be yourself when recording the video, if this is going to hundreds or thousands of people – send it to several friends and have them give you honest feedback before sending.

10.  If at all possible add a little bit of humor in your video message.

11.  Determine the frequency of video emails you will be sending to this list, address one or two points and keep message under 1 minute.  Shorter video emails delivered consistently will drive the best results

12.  Meet with a marketing company and design a video marketing campaign for 2010.
